Mark your Calendars: Community Path Meeting April 26th

The Commuter Rail line looking west from Waverley Station. There will be a discussion of the Belmont Community Path next Wed. April 26th. Don’t miss it!

Summary: We’re almost there! Belmont’s consultant on the Community Path will hold its 9th public meeting to discuss route options through Town, estimated costs and possible funding sources. Come out on Wed. April 26th at 7:00. CMS Auditorium.

The Community Path Feasibility Study is fast approaching its conclusion. After a series of public meetings in the last six months to discuss possible routes through our Town of Homes, the Committee and the engineering firm the Town hired to evaluate different route options is putting the final touches on its work.

Next Wednesday, April 26th, there will be a meeting to discuss their progress at 7:00 PM at the Chenery Middle School Auditorium, according to Town Planner Jeff Wheeler.

This meeting will discuss what’s termed “the Full Matrix” – essentially all the route options for all sections of the path, from East to West and their relative strengths (how well suited the engineering firm feels them to be). The discussion will review the evaluation criteria used to rank different route segments, cost summaries (estimated) for the route options and, critically, potential funding sources.

As always, the public will have an opportunity to weigh in.

These meetings are critical to the realization of this long sought after and valuable bit of 21st century infrastructure here in Belmont. Please show up and lend your voice to the chorus of Belmont residents who are calling for a safe, off-road Community Path that will connect Belmont to the growing, regional network of safe, pedestrian and bike paths!

I look forward to seeing you there!
