Important: Public Feedback Meeting on the Community Path moved to November 9

Belmont's Board of Selectmen will hear from the Community Path Implementation Advisory Committee (CPIAC) on Monday evening. We need you to show your support for a Community Path in Belmont.

A meeting with the engineering firm hired to design Belmont’s Community Path has been moved from Wednesday, Nov 2 to Wednesday Nov. 9 at 7:00 PM. Mark your calendars – and be sure to turn out!

Hey there Blogging Belmont community. A note to let everyone know that there’s been a change and an important meeting that was to take place tomorrow (Wednesday) evening at 7:00 PM to discuss the proposed Belmont Community Path has been moved back a week to Wednesday, November 9.

I’m like a broken record with this….but let me say it again: it is very important that path supporters turn out to share their enthusiasm and ideas for the path, so mark your calendars for November 9 at 7:00 PM. The meeting was rescheduled at the last minute so as not to conflict with a Board of Selectmen’s meeting tomorrow evening, according to the Town Planner’s Office.

The meeting will be held in the Art Gallery of the Homer Building on the 3rd Floor of 19 Moore Street (that big brick building right next to Town Hall that houses many town departments).

At the meeting will be members of the Community Path Implementation Advisory Committee (CPIAC) and the firm Pare Engineering. Pare will discuss topics regarding to the path; the meeting is at 7:00 in the Art Gallery of the Homer Building (3rd floor of 19 Moore Street).

Meet tomorrow (Wed Nov. 2) on the 3rd floor of the Homer Building for a discussion of the Belmont Community Path .

Meet on Wed Nov. 9 on the 3rd floor of the Homer Building for a discussion of the Belmont Community Path .

I missed the first of these discussions, which took place on October 26. And, from what I hear, participation at that event was “light.” The final Community Path will reflect the priorities and feedback of the community, and these meetings are the best opportunity that the Belmont community has to participate early on in the design phase to make sure our priorities and concerns are known to the engineering firm that will come up with the finished route plan.

As you know if you’ve been a regular reader of Blogging Belmont, there’s broad community support for the Community Path, but the proposed route of the path is a matter of debate within town. It is imperative that the path that’s built be functional and friendly to pedestrians and that it help unite our town – physically and otherwise: linking the neighborhoods where Belmontonians live with our surrounding communities, other off-road routes, public transit, business centers and so on. That will take careful planning, and your input is a must.

I’ll see you November 9 at the Homer building!
