Community Path Trail Walk This Saturday October 15 at 9AM

A walking tour this Saturday will explore the western end of the proposed Belmont Community Path, from Belmont Center to Waverley Square. The recent extension of the Community Path from Alewife to Pleasant Street is beautiful – and heavily used by Belmont residents. (Photo courtesy of Boston.com)

OK – the last time I came to you and encouraged you to come out for a walk of proposed Community Path, the skies opened up and the walk was cancelled. But there’s another walk scheduled for this Saturday and, with the forecast saying it will be sunny and 57F, the smart money says this one will happen.

The cancelled walk covered the eastern part of the proposed Community Path, from Belmont Center back to Brighton Avenue, along various routes. The walk on Saturday morning will cover the Western end of the proposed route, from Belmont Center to Waverley Square, including both track side routes (north and south side of the tracks) as well as proposed routes across Pleasant Street. There are a number of “pinch” points in this section of the Community Path and (thankfully) many different options for getting around them. So if you have an interest in what the finished path looks like, what route it takes and how accessible/inaccessible it is to the public, please come out Saturday and join us for the tour.
