Saturday: come out and show your support for the override!

yesforBelmont

The organizers of Yes For Belmont have scheduled a rally for tomorrow morning so that Belmont can show support for the proposed Proposition 2 1/2 Override to preserve town and school services in the April town-wide election.

YES for Belmont is asking for your help holding signs and banners in Belmont Center and Cushing Square. If you’re interested, there are two shifts:

  • Sat, March 21, 9 AM to 10:30AM
  • Sat, March 21, 10:30 AM to 12:00 (NOON)

Organizers are also looking for help transporting signs to- and from each location. If you’re looking to help, you can email Gail Gorman. With a little over two weeks to go before the election, its really important to get the word out about the override and the importance of passing it to provide much needed new revenue to preserve critical town- and school services. As the Belmontonian notes, a “No for Belmont” campaign is afoot and is arguing – without any evidence – that our Town government and schools are wasteful and should be ‘punished’ by denying them the money they need to provide essential services. It’s a whacky and, frankly, intellectually dishonest argument – but its out there and that puts even more pressure on supporters of the override to show their support.

I’ll be there tomorrow and I hope to see you – too!
